The CHSPAB would like to wish everyone the happiest of holidays and a great New Year! Thanks to all who attended the December meeting, once again we had great input and discussion from all. Look for the meeting agenda for the January meeting in a few weeks, the sign up sheets for Mama Mia will be updated after the new year, a lot of help from parents will be needed. We would also like to note we took in a total of $471.00 dollars in December from the concert concessions, and Pampered Chef fundraiser and a bank credit for opening a new account. Thank you for your continued support!

Scholarships/Survey
The November 21st CHSPAB meeting will include an agenda item to discuss scholarships for 2019-2020. This topic has been brought up on many occasions, and opinions vary in support of, and against the awarding of and value of scholarships by CHSPAB.
At the heart of the issue are two valid arguments. One side contends that giving scholarships and rewarding individual students for their continuing education is time honored and valuable tradition and serves the public good in support of the arts. On the other hand, some feel that the scholarship money only benefits a few and should instead be directed to support the larger population of those in the performing arts program. This is, of course, a basic overview and there are complexities and nuances to each argument.
Our goal is to have a constructive conversation, have all opinions be heard and considered to reach a result that best represents the group as a whole. The plan is that the November meeting will be just for discussion, and then voting on options will take place at the December meeting. We encourage all of you to attend!
Following is an informal survey. It won’t be driving any decision at the moment. Instead it will only be used to provide some insight and how we might proceed with discussions in the upcoming meeting, as well as to test the viability of using these types of surveys to help make informed decisions. Please take a moment and complete the survey. We welcome your feedback.

We would like to express how much volunteering means to this program. After our very successful Election Day Bake Sale, many of us parents, board members, Ray and Karly in passing have talked about how everyone came together, and it makes sense to share these thoughts with all of you. When we say every single job is important and no amount of giving is too little, this was made so clear with the bake sale. The decorating committee did an amazing job and is receiving well-deserved praise for that, and many of us board members had people coming up to us and thanking us as if we were responsible for the whole event. No individual or even small group can pull off what we did without the participation we received from all of you. The decorating committee would not have been able to focus on decorating to the degree they did if we all had to stress about running out of baked goods or there not being enough parents to cover shifts.
Our point here is about gratitude. Thank you so much for your help! Don’t think that your contribution was a small one – we need it all. We had no problems, and the day ran smooth because you just came for an hour to help, or you dropped off one case of water, or you dropped off your child to help, or maybe just made a donation. All of it is needed and very much appreciated, and when a group comes together, we end up with the success that we did! These efforts keep everyone inspired, and our students are the ones who receive the benefits, not just financially, but also to experience adults working together on their behalf. So, thank you very much.
We “knocked this one out of the park!” Thanks to all of the volunteers, parents and donations from the community as a whole we are off to a great start! We had a great day, sold a lot of baked goods, coffee and we raffled a beautifully decorated full sized cake made by three CHS students! The Election Day Bake Sale raised $2250.42!
